It was a sweltering Independence Day as the Springfield Sliders sweated out a loss to the Danville Dans Wednesday.
Both a Sliders player and a manager were ejected from the game early after the player used a two-piece bat not allowed by Prospect League regulations.
The Dans racked up their lead early and kept it there despite the Sliders getting several runs in the 5th.
Later in the game, the Sliders’ catcher was ejected after Springfield’s dugout got a little rowdy. The final was 9-2.
The Sliders open up a series with the Dubois County Bombers today.
