It took six innings, but Springfield was able to overcome a three-run deficit.

Danville came back in the seventh with another run but the Sliders secured their win with back-to-back doubles in the eighth and a bases loaded single in the ninth.

Cavemen Beat Sliders

The Sliders lost their first game in a series against the Cavemen in Hannibal Thursday, 8-4.

Springfield was able to get the three runs early and held off the Cavemen until the 4th inning where Hannibal racked up two.

After six innings, the bullpen took over for the Sliders who gave up two more runs to the Cavemen in the seventh and four more in the 8th.

The Sliders tried a comeback in the 9th but were only able to squeeze out one more run, not enough to overcome Hannibal’s advantage.

Springfield and the Cavemen go at it again tonight.

Sliders Beat Gems in Quincy

The Sliders were able to redeem themselves in game two of an on-the-road-series against the Quincy Gems.

Springfield beat the Gems 12-9.

Opening the first two innings with eight runs, the Sliders made it difficult for the Gems to catch up.

By the 7th inning the Sliders had a ten point advantage.

The Gems would rack up seven more points in the final few innings but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Sliders’ lead.

Springfield plays the Cavemen in Hannibal tonight.

Gems Edge Out Sliders on the Road

It was a slug fest Tuesday in Quincy as the Gems edged out the Springfield Sliders, 13-12.

The Sliders took the lead in the top of the 5th, gaining five runs, but the Gems quickly answered to take the lead back in bottom of the 6th.

Springfield snagged the lead again in the 8th but Quincy racked up enough runs to get the advantage.

Looking to take the game into extra innings, the Sliders failed to edge out the Gems.

Springfield is back Quincy for the second game in the series against the Gems.

Cavemen Edge Out Sliders

The Hannibal Cavemen snapped the Springfield Sliders’ four game winning streak, edging the Sliders 11-10.

The Sliders beat the Dubois County Bombers 9-6 last night at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Springfield took the lead early and held off the Bombers runners until the seventh inning where Dubois County got two runs.

That wasn’t enough as the Sliders’ Matt Tellor took the plate with bases loaded and cranked out a grand slam.

That put the game out of reach for the Bombers.

The Bombers lead the Sliders in the season 6-4.

Springfield is on the road today for the first of a two game series against the Danville Dans.

The two teams meet up again today in Springfield at Robin Roberts Stadium.

In other Sliders news, Springfield will get another chance to win Monday’s game against the Terre Haute Rex.

The Frontier League affirmed the Sliders’ challenge Tuesday where Springfield played Monday’s game against the Rex in protest after Sliders manager Pete Romero was ejected from the game.

The game has been rescheduled for August 1st. Even though the challenge was upheld, Romero was still suspended for one full game.

Sliders' Manager Ejected During Loss To Terre Haute

It took until the seventh inning for the Springfield Sliders to get any runs on the board Monday in Indiana.

Springfield racked up seven in the seventh against the Terre Haute Rex and even took the lead with a homerun in the eighth, but that wasn’t enough to beat the Rex in Indiana Monday.

Sliders manager Pete Romero ended up getting ejected from the game after arguing with the Rex manager and the umpire on the field. The Sliders played the rest of the game under protesting. A review of the incident is ongoing with the commissioner expected to release a report today.

The final in Monday’s game was 10-8.

The Sliders take on the Dubois County Bombers on the road today.

Three Sliders Ejected As They Lose To Danville

It was a sweltering Independence Day as the Springfield Sliders sweated out a loss to the Danville Dans Wednesday.

Both a Sliders player and a manager were ejected from the game early after the player used a two-piece bat not allowed by Prospect League regulations.

The Dans racked up their lead early and kept it there despite the Sliders getting several runs in the 5th.

Later in the game, the Sliders’ catcher was ejected after Springfield’s dugout got a little rowdy. The final was 9-2.
