Elshoff Out, Ambrose and Meyer Cleared for Friday

It was reported earlier this week by the SJ-R that Glenwood linebacker Ryan Elshoff had been diagnosed with Mono and will miss at least 2 weeks.


The report also stated that starting linebacker Dylan Ambrose and starting Defensive Back Matt Meyer had gone home from school on Tuesday with similiar symptoms.


WMAY's Mike Wennmacher was able to talk to Head Coach Dan Rourke this week and Rourke said that both Ambrose and Meyer are cleared to play this Friday night verse Jacksonville.

Iguodala Could Move From 76ers to Nuggets

Even as Lanphier High School graduate Andre Iguodala continues his pursuit of Olympic gold, he may have to call for a moving van.


Multiple reports indicate a complex deal is in place that would lead to Iguodala being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Denver Nuggets.


The deal which must still get the approval of the NBA.

Sliders Finish Season With Loss To Bombers

The Springfield Sliders finished out the 2012 Prospect season with a 10-2 loss to the Dubois County Bombers Monday in Indiana.


Dubois started the game, brining in two runs the first inning and a whopping seven runs in the third.


Springfield came back with a run in the forth inning but the Bombers quickly answered with their tenth run.


The Sliders were able to get another run in the eight but it wasn’t enough to close out the eight run gap.


Springfield finished their season with a 24-36 record.

Sliders Lose Last Home Game of Season Against Gems

It was the final home game for the Springfield Sliders and they lost against the Quincy Gems Sunday, 10-3.


The first three innings were scoreless for both teams until the Gems got four runs in the 4th inning.


Springfield was able to get two run in the bottom frame but the Gems followed up the next inning with four more.


The final Sliders run came in the 6th with the Gems racking up two more to secure the victory in the seventh.


Springfield heads to Dubois County to close out the season against the Bombers.

Rex Beat Sliders in Twelve Innings

It took twelve innings for the Terre Haute Rex to beat the Sliders in Springfield Thursday, 11-7.


The game was rain delayed because of much needed storms in the area.


Terre Haute scored three runs early in the first inning with the Sliders taking back the lead in the second.


The Rex came back with the lead by one run in the fourth but then Sliders would take back the lead heading into the ninth.


Terre Haute took the lead in the ninth and Springfield answered to tie the game pushing it into extra innings.


The Rex then secured a victory with four runs in the twelfth inning.


Springfield faces off with Terre Haute again tonight at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Rex Beat Sliders in Double Header

The Springfield Sliders lost both games in a double header Wednesday against the Terre Haute Rex.


The first was a rematch of the final out from July’s contested game. Springfield came out with two on and two outs and got an RBI to finish the game 10-9, instead of the original 10-8 score from the contested game.


Terre Haute then hosted the Sliders for a regularly scheduled game where the Rex beat Springfield 15-5.


The two teams meet up again today in Springfield at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Bombers Beat Sliders

The Springfield Sliders got bombed by the Dubois County Bombers in Indiana Tuesday, 10-2.


After two lightening delays the Bombers brought in 4 runs over the Sliders who struggled to get any runs on the board in the first 3 innings.


Springfield got their second run in the 7th inning but the Bombers answered finishing up with an eight-run advantage.


The Bombers lead the Sliders in the season 7-4. Tonight, the Sliders rematch the Terre Haute Rex—a game where the Sliders’ challenge was upheld after the Rex’s coach took to the field twice in between pitches.


Today’s game will be a double header in Terre Haute.
