  All Day Prairieland Chautauqua   Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 15th Prairieland Chautauqua Under the big tent in Community Park. 2013 theme: “E Pluribus unum.” Modeled after traditional Chautauqua’s, the event includes musical shows, storytellers, communal suppers and evenings with re-enactors representing famous Americans.   All Day Greenview Labor Day Celebration   The Greenview Civic Improvement Association will present the 45th annual Greenview Labor Day Celebration on Monday, Sept. 2 on the Greenview village square. The day’s events begin with the flea/farmer’s market and craft sale at 8 a.m. The annual parade, one of the biggest and best in central Illinois, will start at 10 a.m. After the parade, the Route 97 Cruisaders classic car show will begin on the south side of the village square. Back by popular demand is the Little Miss and Little Mr. Farmer contest. The homemade pie contest and auction will highlight the middle of the day. First the first time, a men’s division will be contested. A variety of food will be offered throughout the day. Duchess foods will offer a wide variety from hamburgers, ribeye sandwiches, pulled pork, corn dogs, and funnel cakes. The Greenview CIA will be serving pork chop sandwiches, walking tacos and lemonade shake-ups in the park. Stier’s Homemade Ice Cream will be offered as well as homemade dessert from Red Barn Desserts. There will be free entertainment and fun for all ages throughout the whole day. Kids games will start at 2 p.m. on the Southwest corner of the park. The Greenview Baptist Church will offer free train rides, freeze pops and a baby changing station. William Mitchell will return with his hypnotist act, and the popular local country music band, Leaving Ashland, will round out the day with a concert in the park.
