  All Day Fried Chicken Dinner   Resurrection Parish of Illiopolis is hosting a Fried Chicken Dinner on Sunday, September 8th. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, applesauce, sliced garden tomatoes, bread and butter, iced tea, coffee and choice of homemade pie or cake will be served from 11am to 2pm in the air-conditioned parish hall. The price of the meal is $5 for children 10 years of age and under and $8.50 for adult dinners. For carry out service, enter through alley off 4th St and exit on to 5th St. A raffle drawing featuring $1,000 in cash prizes (1st place $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200) will take place at 2pm (winners need not be present.) The event will also include a Country Store with baked goods and craft items. There will also be a quilt raffle.
 
  All Day 41st Annual Capital City Century   Join Springfield Bicycle Club on this annual recreational bicycle ride the Sunday after Labor Day. Register online or by mail, or onsite starting at 6:30 a.m. Family 10-mile trail ride and road route options of 25 to 100 miles. Organized food stops, SAG, post-ride party. Historic ride the day prior.
 
  All Day Pekin Marigold Festival   2013 Pekin Marigold Festival. September 5, 6, 7, and 8. It's always the weekend after Labor Day! The first festival was held in 1973, and now, young and old look forward to our 40th festival. With events and fun throughout Pekin over a span of several days, it is unlikely Everett Dirksen or the members of the original Marigold Festival Committee could have imagined what a fantastic event the Marigold Festival would eventually become! Special Guests This Year -------Daniel Logan--Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, Daniel Logan started acting when he was 10 years old. At the top of this young actor’s growing resume sits ”STAR WARS: Episode II - Attack of the Clones,” with the coveted role of Boba Fett. Daniel has recently reprised his role as the voice of Boba Fett in the animated television series “STAR WARS: The Clone Wars.” Logan currently resides in Los Angeles and is continuing a career in acting. Tom Kane--Although best known as the voice of Jedi Master Yoda, Tom's busycareer includes Movie Trailers, Commercials, Network Promos, Games and Cartoons, with lead roles in Powerpuff Girls, Robot Chicken, Kim Possible, Avengers, Foster's Home, Iron Man, Wild Thornberrys, Wolverine and the X-Men and feature films such as Shrek, Rugrats and The Smurfs. Tom was also the announcer for the 78th, 80th, 83rd & 84th Academy Awards. Other Special Guests 501st Legion--The 501st Legion, Mandalorian Mercs, and the Rebel Legion are international fan-based Star Wars™ organizations which promote the love of Star Wars™, the creation of quality costumes, and the spirit of volunteerism.   5:30PM 7:00PM Capital City Men's Chorus   The Capital City Men’s Chorus (TCCMC), directed by Mary E. Myers, is conducting a membership drive for the 2013 spring season. The Capital City Men’s Chorus is open to any male with a musical interest that is 18 years of age or older. Membership in the TCCMC is open to any musically qualified male who enjoys singing and is willing to give of their time and talents necessary to make each concert a source of pride for all members. This program is designed to foster biking, hiking, walking and running within the park. Please note the park will be barricaded to prevent vehicular traffic.
