  All Day COAT DRIVE   During the months of December and January, the Rochester Public Library will be holding their annual Coat Drive. Accepted articles for the collection will be new or gently used coats, both children and adults), hats, scarves, and gloves. Donations are being accepted at Rochester Public Library through the end of January at #1 Community Drive, in Rochester. For further information please contact Susan at (217) 498-8454.
 
  12:00PM 5:00PM Food Drive   Share your good fortune this holiday season by contributing to a food drive sponsored by The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the Illinois State Museum (ISM) to benefit the Central Illinois Foodbank. Through Dec. 31 drop off goods at the ISM lobby Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Closed Christmas Day. Help People in Need & Donate to the Central Illinois Foodbank. When you come in out of the cold to rediscover the Illinois State Museum this holiday season, be sure to bring a little something extra to add to a very important wooden box in the first floor main lobby. The IDNR and ISM are collecting nonperishable food items to be donated to the Central Illinois Foodbank to help people and families in need. Help us bring cheer to the land and people of Illinois by stopping in with your contribution and becoming a part of our effort. **Please no items in glass containers and drop off only during visiting hours to ensure your donation is received.** Check out your progress at Facebook.com/IllinoisStateMuseum and Twitter.com/ILStateMuseum.
 
  8:30AM 5:00PM Holiday Decorations   In keeping with the simpler decorations of the times, the Lincoln neighborhood is decorated with wreaths and greenery. Decorations will remain up through Jan. 2, 2014. The Lincoln Home is open for guided tours every day except Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year's Day (Jan. 1). Free tickets for the tours may be picked up at the Visitor Center, 426 South Seventh Street. The Visitor Center is open from 8:30-5:00, with the last tour going in to the Lincoln Home at 4:30. Tickets are not needed to walk around the neighborhood.
