  All Day Dance Dash 5K   Dance Dash is a 5K with a twist! At 3 different stations throughout the 5K experience, runners will learn part of a line dance. With a wide range of music, and dance move appropriate for any age or skill level, Dance Dash is fun for the whole family. At the end of the 5K, we’ll perform a flash dance with the moves we learn along the route. Dance Dash will benefit St. John's Children's Hospital.
 
  All Day On the Prairie   Sept. 12 – Oct. 4: On the Prairie: Bronzes by Marshall Mitchell. Marshall Mitchell was an artist all of his life (1917 – 2001). He spent most of that life here in Springfield and came to national prominence as a bronze sculptor from the 1970s through today. A selection of his works, owned by Springfield collectors, businesses like Brandt and Egizii Electric and family members, will be on display in the M.G. Nelson Family Gallery at the Springfield Art Association. Included in this exhibition are selections from his southwestern landscapes, cows series, and rooster series. More of Mr. Hindley's work can be found at www.hindleyfineart.org. On the Prairie will be on view in the M. G. Nelson Family Gallery at the Springfield Art Association from Friday, Sept. 12 through Saturday, Oct. 4, 2013. We invite the public to join us for the opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
 
  All Day "Inspirations from Nature" Exhibit   "Inspirations from Nature," an exhibit of collected artworks by Christy Freeman will open Sept. 4, 2014 in the Becker Art Gallery in Becker Library on the campus of Benedictine University at Springfield. The work will be on display through Oct. 16, 2014. A closing reception will be held on Oct. 16 from 5-7 p.m. in Becker Library, which is located at 1500 N. Fifth Street, just east of the Brinkerhoff Home.
 
  All Day International Route 66 Mother Road Festival   It‘s cruisin' time again at the 13th Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival and Car Show in downtown Springfield, IL Sept. 26-28, 2014. This year's event promises all the same great fun and excitement as years past with live music, cool cars, great food and exciting Mother Road history - but a Route 66 Festival tradition gets a new name and a new purpose. Introducing the Route 66 City Nights Cruise for Crime Stoppers - Friday, Sept. 26 kicking off at 6:15 pm from Capital City Shopping Center (3095 S. Dirksen Parkway). Whether you've registered your ride for the weekend festival or just plan to enjoy the downtown festivities as a spectator, you can join the Route 66 City Nights Cruise for Crime Stoppers for a small $5 donation to the Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties. All entrants who donate will also receive a commemorative 2014 Route 66 City Nights Cruise for Crime Stoppers window decal.
 
  All Day Prairie Land Heritage Museum Steam Show   Sept. 26-28 45th Annual Prairie Land Heritage Museum Steam Show and Fall Festival Days at Prairie Land (located on the corner of Michigan and Lincoln). See horse powered equipment, antique tractors, gas & steam engines, demonstrations on bailing, blacksmithing and more. Train rides, large flea market and food. $5 admission for the whole weekend.   All Day Rochester Olde Towne Festival   This years festival will be held on Sept. 27 from 9-5 and Sept. 28 from 10-4 on South John Street between Main Street and State Rt 29 in Rochester. The festival is held every year as a benefit. The proceeds from the booth rental spaces and silent auction are donated to a person or group. This years recipient is the Springfield chapter of the Italian-American War Veterans. Each year the festival has 50 or more vendors including great food, arts and crafts. Live music each day, a little miss pageant and many other activities.
 
  8:00AM 5:00PM Bike and Hike Days at Washington Park   The Springfield Park District is once again hosting the always popular Bike and Hike Days at Washington Park. This program is designed to foster biking, hiking, walking and running within the park. Please note the park will be barricaded to prevent vehicular traffic. Bike and hike days will take place every Sunday through Sept.

  4:30PM 5:30PM Nature Buddies Kickoff   The Springfield Park District's Henson Robinson Zoo invites area families to the kickoff of a nature club called Nature Buddies on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. or Sunday, Sept. 28 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Nature Buddies is free of charge and is dedicated to creating positive interactive experiences in nature for central Illinois families. Each family must have at least one parent or guardian with their child or children. Each Nature Buddies meeting will focus on a different aspect of Illinois nature. There will be hikes, scavenger hunts, nature walks, leaf collections, bird watching and more. For the first Nature Buddies meeting, you may choose one of the two sessions, either September 23 or September 28. Both meetings will consist of the same program.
