Suing DNR, New AFSCME Head, Gun Proliferation, and Disproportionate Data

Today with Bishop On Air: Suing DNR, reacting to new AFSCME head, gun proliferation, and recent NSA revelations ... Don't miss three hours of Liberty-minded talk you won't find anywhere else in central Illinois. Greg Bishop is live from 9 to noon CST on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield.

Suing DNR

Just after 9:30 Chief A.J. Huffer will join the show to talk about his lawsuit against the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for their efforts to ban his modified slingshot used to take down game like deer. We'll hear about the genesis of this sling bow and how DNR says it's good for small animals, but not for deer or bigger. The question is about how humane the sling bow is ... and we'll hear more coming up with Chief A.J. and Bishop On Air.

New AFSCME head

This morning, the new head of AFSCME talked with Jim Leach in reaction to recent court rulings for and against public sector unions. We'll react to her statements and breakdown some recent analysis of union memberships and public opinion of unions over the decades. Plus, we'll revisit some of the moments from our conversation last week with the head of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation.

Gun proliferation

In a story you're hearing first on 970 WMAY, there were over 100 guns reported stolen in Springfield over the past year. Only 10 percent have been retrieved. We'll talk about this story, what it means for Springfield--does this fuel the shooting violence throughout the city?

Disproportionate Data

Recent revelations from the National Security Agency leaks show that a disproportionate amount of data in one case was gathered from innocent individuals by a ratio of 9 to 1. We'll review that story with Nadia Kayyali from the Electronic Frontier Foundation and find out what we as users of communications technology can do about it. That conversation is just after 11 this morning.
