The Last Presidential Debate ... For Real!

Updated 10/28/12 at 1:23pm CST

The Libertarian and the Green Party presidential candidates will get to debate on the national stage, it just won't be with the establishment.

Free and Equal, a non profit, non partisan organization that works to educate the public on how flawed the electoral process is while promoting free and equal elections for all parties, hosted a debate between four, so-called, "third party" candidates this week.  You can watch that debate at this link.

After streaming the debate online, a broadcast featuring Larry King as a moderator that was also picked up by C-SPAN, Russia Today and Aljazera, Free and Equal encouraged voters to pick their top two choices between the Green, Libertarian, Justice and Constitution party candidates.  There was also a lot of action on Twitter with #NOWTHATSADEBATE.

The winners of that poll are Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party's Jill Stein.  There will be another debate between Johnson and Stein November 5, just before the general election.

Interestingly enough, for the first debate, Free and Equal claims to have extended the invitation out the top six candidates.  You can assume that the two that did not agree to the debate had other things to do.  President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney signed a debate contract exclusively with the Commission on Presidential Debates.  They can't break that contract, now can they?

The American people should demand an impromptu debate featuring all four candidates.  Not some measly 90 minute debate--it should be extensive, covering all aspects of what the role of the Federal Government is in American lives and on an international stage.

Even if it's just to show the American people that there are other ways to do things and to think about foreign, domestic, and economic policy.  Maybe having them all debate would actually show the American people how the two establishment candidates are really alike.

"I think he's a psychopath," "It's not right," "he's been watching too much Terminator," "being an immigrant from a dictatorship, I don't want to live back in that," "that's just terrible," "Crazy guy," are all responses from Obama supporters being told of Obama's policies under the auspice of them being policies promoted by Romney. We Are Change asks Obama supporters a trick question and shows their ignorance.

When it comes to the Warrantless Wiretapping, the Patriot Act, the indefinite detention provision of the NDAA, secret kill lists, the President and Romney agree!  So, where's the dissension and the difference in the race promoted by the mainstream?  There is none!

Sadly, this country has been taken on a political ride, and it's been going on for too long.  Manipulative media and corporate tactics have been used for generations to convince the population that they only have two choices.

This must end

Demand free and equal debates and elections!  Be sure to watch the November 5th debate from Free and Equal.  Follow them on Twitter, or Facebook, or check their website for more updates.
