An open letter to Thanksgiving ...
I'm thankful for the gift of life. Even if it is only about surviving, I'm overwhelmed by this truly awesome experience we share on this tiny spec-of-a-planet in a vast universe of atoms. I'm grateful for the fight!
I'm thankful for my family and for my partner-in-life Meghan. I love you. I'm thankful for old and new friends and just as thankful for fellow activists. I'm thankful for my co-workers.
I'm thankful for everyday I can think for myself and express my perspective to thousands. I'm grateful for my career, my education, and mostly my experience.
However ...
I'm thankless towards never-ending wars of aggression. I'm critical of tyrannical power. I'm unappreciative of waste and abuse by megalomaniacs. I'm ungrateful for venomous and distracting politics that distract our attention away from real issues. I'm unthankful the debt our progeny will endure.
