Things just got real! It's Bishop On Air from 10 to noon only on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield. Did you miss recent shows? Listen and subscribe to podcasts here.
We've gotta talk about the aftermath of the George Zimmerman verdict. After Saturday's acquittal and some rallies Sunday, it seemed to be a whimper--but now there are a slew of stories that are coming out showing how absolutely irrational the actions of people acting on emotion instead of reason can be.
Closer to home
Illinois is absolutely backwards ... We'll talk about the continued imposition on your rights to bear arms. Without even the first permit being issued for concealed carry, a state lawmaker wants to ban where you can carry a gun. That place the state senator wants to ban firearms from being concealed are places of worship. State Senator Dan Kotowski was featured in an episode of Gun-Free Zone foolishly comparing guns to teddy bears. WTF? Watch that below:
We also have to talk about facial recognition cameras being used by Chicago police. That in combination with the calls for the National Guard to take the streets of the windy city and drones being called for down in St. Louis--who wants to deny that we live in a police state?
Another Springfield City Council Meeting tonight ... what could be coming up? We'll definitely review what's on the agenda but we'll have to talk about some of the things going on behind the scenes. Be it the city's Joint Labor Management Committee structure being challenged to the ongoing shred-gate controversy, we'll have to drag it out for our discussion. We'll also be joined by the city's Clerk Cecilia Tumulty to talk about the new voting machines used by aldermen and how the public will soon be able to follow virtually in real time!
