The Council Roundup, Wednesdays at 10 with Bishop On Air

Greg Bishop Contact Greg Bishop

Morning-drive news anchor and reporter, Greg Bishop also hosts Bishop On Air, Weekdays from 10 to noon, CST.

My Pages:

Syria, Liberty, Tax Increase, and NOTM

It's not about left vs. right with Bishop On Air ... it's about liberty vs. tyranny.  Strap yourself in for two hours of live and local talk you won't find anywhere else!  Greg Bishop hosts Bishop On Air from 10 to noon only on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield.

UN inspectors are in Syria to investigate the allegations of chemical weapons used on citizens. The death toll has, at one report, jumped to 1,300, but those are unconfirmed as the number has bounced all over the place. No question it's absolutely devastating even the slightest possibility of chemical weapons being used, but who is to blame for the chemical weapons attack? We'll review a brief history of chemical weapons in Syria, the western training of rebels with ties to Al-Qaeda, and how the two may be connected. It almost doesn't matter who's responsible. The calls for war are loud among those who command the western military apparatus.

What is Liberty? Is it something you can learn in a couple of college courses? We'll find out from University of Illinois Associate Professor William Kline as he joins the show to discuss the newly formed Liberty Studies curriculum. Also, what is some of the controversy about the new curriculum? We'll get to the bottom of it today just after 10:30. Don't miss this compelling conversation!

Tax increases

The knee-jerk reaction to poor management of government resources is to throw more money at the problem ... but, the conversation about another possible tax increase for Springfield's school district is up in the air. We'll open up the lines for you, the tax paying public, to sound off on whether you can stomach another tax increase or if it's time for government institutions to live within their means. That's ahead with Bishop On Air in the 11 o'clock hour.

News on the March

We'll talk the latest news out of Syria, Lybia and other countries where the US has butted in with "kinetic military exercises," plus the NSA spying on the UN, the latest Obamacare news, and what some activists in Germany are doing to fight against the war on drugs.

Sound off with Bishop On Air from 10 to noon on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield. Listen live and call 217-629-7970, email, Tweet or Facebook. Also, be sure to check out the podcast updates with the Bishop On Air Podcast.
