Today, Greg Bishop will talk with Springfield Ward 7 Alderman Joe McMenamin about a variety of issues facing the capital city, and also we'll hear from the Libertarian candidate for Governor, Chad Grimm. Plus, we'll review the most recent South Park episode and talk about the potential savings to taxpayers from a government shutdown. That's ahead when Bishop On Air goes live from 10 to noon.
Just after the show's open, we'll be joined by Springfield Alderman Joe McMenamin to talk about the issue of spiking salaries of top brass at Springfield's Police Department, the issue of police and fire pensions vs. infrastructure funding, plus we'll get McMenamin's take on an inspector general for the capital city. These are just some of the many issues we'll cover with the outspoken alderman.
Let Go, Let Gov
The latest episode of the raunchy award winning Comedy Central episode of South Park is a wonderful statement at the outrage of the National Security Agency world-wide snooping program and the somewhat ambivilance of some people's online activity. It also has some great things to say about a statist view of government. We'll review the episode coming up with Bishop On Air.
Also last week, Ron Paul was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno promoting his latest book. There, Paul and Leno debate what the role of government is. We'll air a few clips from that program as well.
He's the Libertarian candidate for Governor and he's coming on Bishop On Air to talk about it. Be sure to tune in to hear from a choice outside the political establishment of Illinois when Libertarian Candidate for Governor Chad Grimm joins the show. We'll talk about what Illinois would look like if a Libertarian governor would be in charge.
News on the March
In the final few moments of today's show, we'll cover some of the other news that is under-covered (including discussion about the government shutdown and Obamacare) and open the phone lines for your phone calls. That's ahead with Bishop On Air only on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield!
