We'll talk a bit about Iran, Calvin Christian, nominating petitions, SHG's game against Washington, and Thanksgiving traditions--that's ahead with Bishop On Air from 10 to noon on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield.
What's in the deal and why do war hawks hate/love it so much? A deal reached over the weekend between Iran and the P5+1 will apparently let Iran have some relief from sanctions in exchange for a six-month timeline of setting up inspections of it's nuclear sites. It also allows them to continue their Uranium enrichment process, just as long as it's not for weapons use. Does this concern you? If so, why? We'll get to some more specifics to open today's show.
There has been back-channel confirmation of the pending deal between the city of Springfield and Calvin Christian to settle the complaint over the destruction of Police Internal Affairs records that were requested through the Freedom of Information. The deal could be $100,000, with a portion of that going to lawyers. There are also other provisions of the deal being reported that would not have the city disclosing any further details about the case. What are you thoughts? We'll talk about it today with Bishop On Air.
Here we go again, another primary election where the establishment parties get together for the taxpayer funding coronation. We'll take this time to complain about the electoral system in Illinois and how it is purposefully set up to favor the established parties while blocking other candidates from getting in front of voters on the ballots. Is it time to change the process in Illinois and to make it more inclusive instead of it being exclusive.
Just after 11 o'clock, we'll talk with Sangamon County Clerk Joe Aiello about county wide offices and the petition process there, and we'll also delve a bit deeper into the redistricting of wards for the City of Springfield.
SHG vs. Washington
Though it's not a sports show, we'll get a bit into the game this past weekend where Sacred Heart-Griffin beat Washington High School. Several things ... should the game even have taken place, should SHG been so dominating and should SHG have even had the record they had going into the game? We'll get the flack jackets ready as we open this can of worms!
