City Council Preview
Tonight is a Springfield City Council meeting. Right at the top we'll go through some of the major issues facing the city and get your take. Follow along here. We'll focus a lot of talk about the appointment of Todd Greenburg to the be the city's next corporation counsel.
Politics of pot
With two states having legalized recreational pot, several dozen states (including Illinois) approve medial marijuana, and more states moving towards lax policies, let's talk about the politics of pot. A huge milestone has been reached where a sitting President of the United States made statements that pot wasn't any worse than alcohol. Regardless of your stance on the issue, this speaks volumes to where the country is headed. As for the war on drugs, and pots role, we'll talk about the math behind punishing sellers in prisons to opening revenues through legalization.
After 11:30 we'll talk with a representative from the Illinois chapter of the National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws. We'll get Dan Linn's take on the slew of gubernatorial candidates response to the legalization of weed for recreational use and also the mixed response to the pilot program that has yet to get fully implemented.
