History From the Library
Historian Sam Wheeler will join us live from the Presidential Library in downtown Springfield to talk about Lincoln in the news. We'll discuss what the role of historians at the ALPLM is and how they ensure patrons get the most accurate information. But, we'll also talk about how Lincoln is portrayed in media today--from comedy shows to advertisements, does modern media get it right? Plus, if there's time, we'll discuss the real reasons for the Civil War.
Post Primary Priorities
Let's talk campaign finance reform--What needs to happen? Should there be public financing? Should there be caps to what individuals can give their own camapaigns? Should Unions but out of funding campaigns? Also, let's talk about changing Illinois' primary system. The way it's set up now in the state only helps perpetuate the two party system and excludes any other voices.
Get Covered America is coming to District 186. What exactly are they going to be doing? Well, they'll apparently be given a venue to sign people up for private insurance at public schools. What are your thoughts about this? Plus, we'll discuss how several dozen high schools in Chicago are set to hand out thousands upon thousands of Condoms to Chicago Public School students.
