Greg Bishop takes over the airwaves to tell it like it is. Today's focus is education, or rather miss-eduation, of public school kids, plus we'll cover the day's news in a way you won't find anywhere else in Central Illinois. It's Bishop On Air from 9 to noon CST on 970 WMAY, The News and Talk of Springfield!
The workbook heard around the world
You live in a hole if you haven't heard about the Grant Middle School workbook about the Second Amendment to the US constitution. The story has made national news various websites. Then the story of Dist. 186's Superintendent Robert Hill confirming the workbook and refusing to remove the material made the rounds causing even more of an uproar. We'll get to his comments and allow you to sound off on the issue.
Then after 11:30 CST we expect to be joined by the Sangmaon County Rifle Assocication Outreach Director Josh Witkowski to talk more about the blatant disinfo and maybe get a chance to review some of the other "translations" of the amendments to the constitution found in the workbook.
“Give me just one generation of youth, and I'll transform the whole world.”
― Vladimir Lenin
Think indoctrinating the youth in America in silly? Think again! Parents should be ever vigilant in ensuring their students are taught in the way they see fit. It is absolutely irresponsible to just give up on children in public schools and to not scrutinize what is being taught in schools.
George Carlin had it right:
Other things you need to check out ... search for Charlotte Iserbyt and educate yourself about America's education system ... You'll be absolutely enraged by what she has to say about the dumbing down of America.
The state's budget
Governor Pat Quinn delivers his budget address Wednesday. Will he call for an extension of the temporary income tax? Will he support Speaker Mike Madigan's millionaire surcharge? Will he lay out any cuts? We'll talk about that, get your take on what needs to happen with the state's budget and also get your reaction to the latest poll from the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute that shows Illinois voters are at odds about taxes and services.
