The Council Roundup

The Council Roundup, Wednesdays at 10 with Bishop On Air

Jim Leach Contact Jim Leach

Jim Leach is a lifelong Springfield resident whose first radio gig was at WMAY -- in 1983! After a stint as a reporter at Channel 20, he rejoined the station part-time in 1990, and began working there full-time in 1995. A year later, he began hosting his daily talk show. These days, Springfield wakes up with Jim and his unique blend of fiery conversation, newsmaking interviews, hard-hitting facts and unbridled opinion. Jim is a multiple winner of the Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Award and the Illinois Times Readers' Choice Award.

Today's Show: Friday, February 22, 2013

Having survived yesterday's snowy hellscape -- without the help of my snow blower, which after two years in dry dock decided to sit out the storm -- I will treat myself by welcoming fascinating people into the studio today.

We'll talk with Eileen Mackevich of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and Dr. Karl Luthin, who provided the equine props for the movie "Lincoln."  That will serve as a preview of our big Oscars events at the presidential museum Sunday.

And Dean Graven of the Springfield Area Home Builders Association will talk about the Home Expo with us.

And then at 8:00, the gloves come off, as we crown a new Butthead of the Week (you can vote in comments).  Listen live 6-9am on 970 WMAY or online at
