The family of a woman who died of a rare form of cancer will be allowed to proceed with their lawsuit, claiming the woman contracted it from asbestos that came home on the clothing of her husband, a longtime railroad employee.
The Illinois Supreme Court has reinstated the case, which was tossed out in 2007, the same year Annette Simpkins died of mesothelioma. Her family is suing CSX Transportation, alleging that asbestos used in its railroad operations contributed to her death.
