Legislative Hearings on Smith Postponed

Legislative hearings into the conduct of a state lawmaker accused of bribery are on hold.

 

The special committee appointed to look into Representative Derrick Smith’s actions was scheduled to reconvene this week in Springfield.

 

But the committee is postponing its work while it waits for additional information from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago about the case.

 

A federal grand jury is also reportedly reviewing the case, which could potentially lead to additional charges.
