Amy Bliefnick talks about the 2012 Illinois State Fair
The area of the Illinois State Fair that was known for years as Happy Hollow is getting its name back.
Fair officials even plan to bring some vintage signage out of cold storage to highlight the return of the name for the valley just inside the main gate.
Most long-time fairgoers never stopped referring to the area as Happy Hollow, even though the name was not officially used.
But while the rechristened area will feature some attractions, including a zipline, the actual carnival midway will remain at the opposite end of the fair’s main road.
