Some Oppose Schnuck's Plans for Griffin Woods

Plans for a new grocery store could mean the end of the 20-acre wooded area on Springfield’s west side known as Griffin Woods.

 

The S-J-R reports that Schnuck’s plans to clear out the woods and use the land for its new store and an adjacent commercial development.

 

The idea is already drawing criticism from some nearby residents, who say the woods should be saved and who worry that there won’t be enough customers to support all of that new retail development.
