A proposed constitutional amendment to give more teeth to crime victims’ rights will not be on the fall ballot.
The measure cleared the House by a wide margin earlier in the year, and a similar version passed the Senate by a wide margin.
But the measure stalled when it went back to the House for concurrence with the Senate’s changes.
Lawyers’ groups objected to the amendment, saying it could complicate the work of prosecutors and jeopardize the civil rights of suspects.
