Washington Middle School Teacher Named Springfield's Educator Of The Year

A language-arts teacher from Washington Middle School has been named Springfield’s Educator of the Year.

Melissa Beckler received the award at a luncheon in Springfield Monday, in recognition of her work with “struggling and reluctant readers” in 6^th through 8^th grades.

It’s the 25^th year for the award, which is sponsored by Horace Mann. Next year, the insurance company plans to expand the awards luncheon to include an Administrator of the Year.
