City Could Save Millions In Consolidation Effort

A consultant says Springfield could save millions of dollars by consolidating city government’s four vehicle garages down to just one.

 

But that study also says the city could have to pay more than a million dollars up front to carry out the consolidation.

 

The report, commissioned by the City Council, also recommends that the city develop a uniform record-keeping system for all of its vehicles.

 

Right now, some departments keep computerized records, while others maintain handwritten logs.
