There’s been some compromise on a bill in the Illinois Legislature which would cost strip clubs $3.00 per patron.
The strip club tax has undergone some tweaking and is making its way through the Illinois Senate.
Under the revised legislation, strip clubs that serve alcohol will have to paid either $3.00 per customer or pay an annual fee based on gross receipts.
The fees collected would be used to help support under-funded rape crisis centers around the State. Senator Toi Hudson of Olympia Fields is the bill’s sponsor.
Supporters say there’s a direct correlation between strip clubs that serve alcohol and sexual violence against women.
The measure now moves to the Senate Floor for a vote.
Springfield's Deja Vu would not be impacted by the tax because they do not serve alcohol.
