State Board Of Ed Chair: More Funding Cuts Would Be Devastating

The chairman of the State Board of Education is warning of trouble ahead if lawmakers cut school funding. 

 

A House budget proposal would slash another quarter-of-a-billion dollars from schools, although an alternative Senate plan would leave the funding intact. 

 

Gery Chico tells Illinois Statehouse News that more cuts would lead to fewer teachers, shorter school days and higher taxes.
