National Democrats are already targeting the new Republican nominee in the 13th Congressional District.
GOP county chairmen met over the weekend and chose Rodney Davis to fill the ballot spot vacated by incumbent Tim Johnson, who won the March primary and then abruptly dropped out of the race.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee immediately went on the attack, blasting Davis as a “career political hack.”
Davis is a longtime aide to Republican Congressman John Shimkus and served as acting state party chair temporarily last year.
