Springfield school board members are still wrestling with the question of how deep they should cut, and whether they should dip further into the district’s dwindling reserves.
The board continues to hear pleas from parents and teachers not to implement some of the harshest cuts proposed by Superintendent Walter Milton.
But spending more of the reserves would violate a board policy to keep its bank account at 15-to-20 percent of total revenues.
Board vice-president Bill Looby says failing to make difficult decisions now is just postponing the inevitable.
