The woman who has been slated to become the Democratic nominee for Sangamon County Coroner may be ineligible to appear on the ballot.
The State Journal-Register reports that Rachel Ralston’s expected candidacy could be derailed by the fact that she voted in the Republican primary in March.
A new state law that just recently took effect prohibits someone who votes in one party’s primary from representing a different party in the general election.
But since that new law took effect after the March 20th primary, it’s not clear if the prohibition would apply to this election cycle.
