Mayor Houston Joins Protest Of Possible State Pension Fix

Springfield Mayor Mike Houston is warning that some of the state’s ideas for fixing its pension crisis could just transfer the burden to city government and local taxpayers.

 

Lawmakers are considering a plan to divert revenues that usually go to local government, and instead using that money to address funding shortfalls in state pension funds.

 

Houston warns that would lead to either tax increases or layoffs, or both.
