Menard Correctional Center Workers Comp Claim Upheld

An appeals panel has upheld the claim of a guard at the Menard Correctional Center, who says “repetitive walking” was the cause of a painful Achilles tendon injury.

 

The Belleville News-Democrat reports the guard based his claim on the fact that he has walked back and forth through the prison several miles a day for more than a decade, checking cells.

 

One expert says if walking becomes the basis for a workers comp claim, the system could be bankrupted by other similar claims.
