Supporters of same-sex marriage will try again today to advance their bill in the Illinois Senate.
An attempt at an expedited hearing Wednesday fell two votes short.
The push during the lame-duck legislative session comes amid furious campaigning for and against the bill.
Religious leaders… including Springfield Catholic Bishop Thomas John Paprocki… say the bill infringes on religious freedom.
But supporters say the measure increases freedom.
Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson of the hit TV show “Modern Family” will lobby lawmakers in Springfield today in support of the bill.
