Drought Hurts Illinois Corn Production

Illinois has slipped in the rankings of corn-producing states, thanks to last year’s drought. 

 

New federal numbers on 2012 crop production finds that both corn and soybean production dipped dramatically in the state last year.  Corn was down by nearly a third compared to 2011. 

 

Illinois, which had been the second biggest corn producer, now falls to fourth behind Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.
