Dist. 186 Looking For More Revenue To Stave Off Budget Cuts

After scaling back his original proposal for budget cuts, Springfield School Superintendent Walter Milton says it’s now time for the district to give serious consideration to bringing in more revenue.

Milton has talked about a sale of “working cash bonds” to raise money and help avoid some of the proposed deep cuts in next year’s budget.

But Milton also acknowledges that borrowing now simply puts some of the pain off until future years.

The school board’s finance committee meets tonight to discuss the issue.
