Mayor Mike Houston’s office says there is no talk of a sales tax increase to benefit Springfield schools… because there has been no formal proposal for one.
Springfield School Superintendent Walter Milton this week floated the idea of a city sales tax increase, with proceeds to be shared by the city and District 186.
He notified Houston in advance that he intended to raise the idea, but a spokesman for Houston says there were no specifics, and for the moment there is no consideration being given to the idea.
