A local lawmaker says he wants to do more to protect the gun rights of Illinoisans… even if it means amending the state constitution to do it.
Senator Sam McCann told a pro-gun rally in Springfield Saturday that he is drafting a constitutional amendment to make Illinois the strongest 2nd Amendment state in the nation.
He also called for the passage of “constitutional carry,” which would allow Illinoisans to carry firearms concealed, or in the open, without a permit.
McCann said, quote, “The Second Amendment is my permit.”
