Tuition is going up in the fall for incoming freshmen at the University of Illinois’s three campuses, including Springfield.
But the increase is the smallest in nearly two decades.
In contrast to recent years, when tuition sometimes went up by nearly ten-percent, the hike next fall will be less than two-percent, an increase of around $150.
The price hike will only affect new students… by law, tuition rates are locked in for all four years of a student’s undergraduate education.
However, housing costs are also going up at UIS, by an average of 3.5 percent.
